Meyer Wells builds furniture from reclaimed urban trees. Many of their designs incorporate live edge and exhibit a warm natural look. Be sure to review the finishes to see their entire range.

Antonio Citterio and Partners

I enjoy the designs Antonio Citterio has created for Maxalto, B&B Italia, Flos, Kartell and other leading Italian and European manufacturers. He also creates stunning architecture in a rigorous and minimal vocabulary. Here are a few projects from his company, Antonio Citterio and Partners, portfolio.

Kokabe Design

Norbert Muerrle creates an amazing line of jewelry called Récrolie, which features a unique textural quality in platinum, champagne gold, yellow gold and diamonds. Each piece is made of a long ribbon which is textured with serpentine lines. Then the metal band is wrapped around itself creating a unique depth and significant heft. Larger diamonds peak out of the edge of the ribbon while others have their surfaces riddled with tiny brilliant diamonds.

Spacecraft

Textile artist Stewart Russell and Donna O’Brien collaborate on the designs for densely packed silkscreen fabrics. they create a range of products including sheets, pillows, fashion and more.

There are a number of shops I like to visit in GPO Melbourne, one of them is Spacecraft. They’ve done a nice job with their retail space by creating vignettes and smallish environments within the store. Nice detail: some of the prices appear written on the ground in chalk.

Russell has collaborated with the innovative designer of the Zaishu, Matthew Butler.

Yauatcha

For some reason I was thinking about a decadent dim sum lunch I enjoyed at Yauatcha ca 2004. Although this was soon after the restaurant opened, the offerings were presented with extreme care. In other words, it felt like the restaurant was in business decades rather than weeks.

There are so many different dim sum plates offered you may have difficulty choosing; call your server to assist. Speaking of choice, there is a plethora of teas available by the pot. I enjoyed a limited Darjeeling after a glorious lunch! Be sure to visit the patisserie on your way out. Lunch for 2 of us was well over $200 … but worth it. Without a doubt, this was one of the best meals I recall having in London.
